Synopsis for The Handmaiden:

1930s Korea, in the period of Japanese occupation, a new girl, Sookee, is hired as a handmaiden to a Japanese heiress, Hideko, who lives a secluded life on a large countryside estate with her domineering Uncle Kouzuki. But the maid has a secret. She is a pickpocket recruited by a swindler posing as a Japanese Count to help him seduce the Lady to steal her fortune.

This is a very interesting movie, but also very R-rated and has lots of gender-based violence! Not for everyone.

loved this movie! it's probably not great if what you're expecting is a romance drama, but as a psychological thriller it's brilliant! I had no idea where the plot of this was going, you have no idea who to trust or what's gonna happen next.
